Martin Becker

Martin Becker Lorca was born in Santiago, Chile. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Humanities and a couple of years of Law, he studied a degree in Philosophy at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.

After some years working as a teacher of History of Religions in secondary and elementary education, he continued his postgraduate studies. He is studying for a master’s degree and a doctorate in Philosophy of Religion at the School of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, USA. His doctoral work focuses on the theme of modern (dis)enchantment and ontological wonder.

He currently works as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and collaborates in the Center for the Study of Religion of the same university. His areas of research are Philosophy of Religion, Phenomenology, Secularization theory and decolonial thought.
