Mario Inzulza comes from Puerto Montt, a city in southern Chile. He received his primary and secondary education in this city, first at the Instituto Aleman school, and then at the San Francisco Javier school. Then, after studying a year of Engineering at the Universidad Técnica Federico Santa María in Valparaíso, he entered the religious order Compañía de Jesús (Society of Jesus) in 1996. After studying a Bachelor’s in philosophy and humanities at the Alberto Hurtado University (UAH) between 1998-2002, he studied a Bachelor’s in theology at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile (UC), both universities located in Santiago of Chile. Between 2009-2011 he studied for a Master’s degree in theology at Centre Sèvres in Paris. Back in Chile, he worked as an academic at the UAH and UC, while also collaborating in the foundations Techo y Vivienda, of which he will become a member of the board. Between 2014-2018, he studied for his Doctorate at the Boston College, US, focusing his research on the research of creation and eschatology. Since he came back to Chile, he has worked at the Faculty of Theology, focusing his duties on two aspects: teaching the topics he researched during his doctoral work and managing the area of Community Engagement.
