Sofía Lombardi

Sofia Lombardi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Scienze dell’Antichità (2013) and a Master’s degree in Philology, Literature, and Ancient History (2015) from the Università Statale di Milano, as well as a PhD in Philosophy (2023) from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. Her area of interest is ancient philosophy, particularly Hellenistic philosophy, with a specific focus on the Stoics. Her doctoral thesis, “Posidonius and De Placitis Hippocratis et Platonis IV 264, 17-270, 3; how to understand the figure of Posidonius between Stoic psychological monism and Galen’s Platonic objections,” developed under the supervision of professors Marcelo Boeri (PUC) and Teun Tieleman (Utrecht University), she has delved into the psychological theme of passion in Zeno, Chrysippus, Posidonius, and Galen. This work has shown what Posidonius’s real role in the psychological field was, carrying out a systematic reconstruction of Posidonius’s psychology to answer the central question of the thesis: what, according to Posidonius, is the cause of passions.
