The Faculty of Theology of the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile grants the canonical degrees corresponding to Licentiate in Theology and the Doctorate in Theology since its foundation year in 1935, which makes its postgraduate program the oldest among Chilean universities.
In 1980, addressing the Apostolic constitution Sapientia Cristiana, the Licentiate degree in Theology was reformulated and undergraduate studies were established, with a five-year curriculum (Canonical Baccalaureate in Theology) and, the postgraduate studies of the Master’s level, with a two-year curriculum, which corresponds to the Specialized Canonical Licentiate Degree.
From this reformulation, the Faculty offers the postgraduate with a major in Dogmatic theology, Patristic theology, and Fundamental Theology.
